applications
The CCU technology can be applied:
- As a circular system installed on site and used for daily storage of energy
- To manufacture the valuable fuel and energy carrier methanol from residual CO2
- To benefit from continued use of fossil resources with reduced CO2 emission.
The CCU technology does not need hydrogen gas as reactant and can be installed at any geographic location close CO2 emission points such as coal-fire plants.
The process is expected to have good scalability. From 1 kg of CO2, 1 liter of methanol can be produced per hour, giving an amount of 24 l methanol from 24 kg of CO2 per day on pilot scale.
